Matchups
Having identified matchups and tables all players should follow pregame action sequence below:
- Muster forces: Go over your army list with your opponent;
- Mission briefing: confirm Primary Mission, Mission Rule and Deployment in use;
- Players check terrain preset and set up objective markers on the battlefield;
- Players agree which battlefield edge is the Attacker’s and which is the Defender’s. The players then roll off and the winner distributes the Attacker and the Defender roles - this will determine which player uses which deployment zone in the coming battle;
- Select Secondary Missions;
- Declare Battle Formations;
- Setup and start your clock; (optional)
- Deploy Armies. Players alternate setting up their available units one at a time, starting with the Defender. If one player finishes deploying all their units, their opponent then deploys the remainder of their units;
- Determine First Turn;
- Resolve pre-battle rules and abilities. Players alternate resolving any pre-battle abilities units from their armies have, starting with the player who will take the first turn;
- Begin the Battle.
Game Result

Rulesets
- Tournament follows Warhammer 40k 10th edition Matched Play rules
- All FAQs from GW published before the Rule Freeze will be in use
- WTC FAQs published before the Rule Freeze will be in use
- WTC rules and FAQs are available here: WTC Latest Rules
Rules issues troubleshooting guidelines follow this order of precedence: WTC Clarifications > English GW Official FAQs > App with the latest version prior to the rules deadline > English Codex/Index > English Main Rulebook Judge’s ruling is always final. Players are required to proceed with the game according to the ruling provided. Any further claims may be reviewed after the round’s end or after the tournament but game / round / tournament scoring will not be changed retrospectively.
Clocks – General Rules
- Chess clocks must be used for all games
- Players are jointly responsible for correct clock use and switching at all times
- If a player is performing an action, their clock must be running; if the opponent is acting, the clock must be switched
- Pausing the clock is not allowed except when instructed by a judge
- Any disputes regarding time or clock use must be raised with the TO immediately
- Only players or a judge may interact with the clock.
Solo Tournament Flow
- Each round lasts 3 hours, within which the game must be completed and the result submitted
- Round time includes up to 15 minutes for players to complete steps 1–6 of the pregame sequence.
- Before step 7 of pre-game sequence the clock must be set
- When setting the clock, subtract any pregame time already used, then split the remaining round time evenly between players, rounding down
- Example: If the round time is 3 hours and players spend 9 minutes on pregame, the remaining time is 2 hours 51 minutes. Split evenly and rounded down, each player receives 1 hour 25 minutes
- When a player’s time runs out, they are allowed to draw secondaries, score points passively (e.g. they can score points for standing on objectives, but not allowed to declare actions) and roll save roles only
- Do not forget to submit the Game Result
Team Tournaments
- Teams have up to 30 minutes to complete the Match Up process
- After matchups are finalized, follow the Solo Tournament Flow for each game
Painting
To put it simply, a painted model has appropriate colors applied to every part of the model and has it’s base painted and based. Please refer to this article for more details: GW Battle Ready

In the tournament with Battle Ready criteria you only get Battle Ready points only if you fully comply with the criteria presented above. In the tournament without Battle Ready criteria you get Battle Ready points regardless.
