Another 40K tournament to close out our summer here in Israel, this time hosted by Geek Shelter Haifa. The guys from the north always put on a cosey tournament and the falafel is the highlight for me at least. The top player was Daniel Grushka who not only won the event but manged to push into the top 20 now in the overall in the Israeli Competitive Rankings. His World Easters were a menance but he is such a good guy I even forgave him for crushing me in our game.
Second place and MVP was Shayli Rudnik who not only stepped up from the novices to claim a step on the podium but went unbeaten in his first tournament was very impressive. And this after sharing with us the news of a new baby in the family is even more impressive with no sleep.
Third was myself, I came up against Daniel in round 2 and was happy to at least get on the podium with some frustrating games having to grind both of the other game being down in the fourth round and squeezing in the wins. The Golden Boys are still OK but barely.
An honerable mention has to go out to Elroyi Cahana that for the first time got both Best Painted and Favourite Opponnent awards in the same tournament. So a big congratulations to him for managing to pull that off. I played against him and can say that he is one of the top new guys coming through the ranks and a great guy to boot.
Tomorrow Nurgle will reach out from the Warp and layout down some rotten detritus upon those who have been hiding in the shadows. Every 4 months ELO decay is applied of 1.5% for inactivity over that period to keep the rankings dynamic and fresh.
Tomorrow will also see the start of the Consilium Quadrum 01 starting with a TTS tournament that will have the first round kicking off next week Sunday, 8th of September. This is an online tournament where one game per week is played and if the opponents can agree to play in person then even better to meet on the tabletop
The first GT Novahammer is also still open to registration and getting closer with every week so signup to make sure you don't miss your place.
