Consularis Overview
Structure
The Consilium is organized into four primary tiers:
- Alpha Consularis: 20 players; the elite top tier.
- Beta Consularis: 20–35 players; the main battlefield of competition.
- Gamma Consularis: 20–35 players; the overflow and developmental tier.
- Novus Consularis: Unlimited; all new players start here and undergo placement.
Quadrum Cycle
Each Quadrum spans four months, structured around:
- Five official match rounds per player (one match every 3 weeks)
- Match-by-match ELO recalculations
- End-of-cycle tier changes and new player entries
- Tracking of inactive players (see Nurgle’s Rot)
League Structure
- Alpha Consularis: up to 20 players (starting with 16 if needed)
- Beta Consularis: flexible, generally 20–35 players
- Gamma Consularis: added if Beta overflows
Players are initially placed based on ELO. After league registration closes, players are divided evenly between Alpha and Beta, respecting ELO rankings. All new entrants start in Beta or Gamma, depending on current tier sizes and space.
League Standings & Match Scoring
Matches are played using WTC scoring format (0–20 game points)
Standings are determined by:
- Most match wins + draws during the Quadrum
- Total points
- If still tied and impactful a playoff match is arranged
- If no playoff is possible ELO is used as the final tiebreaker
Promotion & Relegation
- Occurs at the end of each Quadrum
- Top 3 players promoted to next tier
- Bottom 3 players relegated if lower tier exists
ELO Note
- ELO is tracked for long-term rankings and matchmaking
- ELO is not used to determine promotions or relegations within a Quadrum
- ELO is updated after every match based on the WTC formula
Match Pairing
- Season Start Seeding: Players are ranked by ELO
- Round 1: Seeded pairing (e.g. 1 vs 11, 2 vs 12, etc.)
- Rounds 2–5: Swiss-style pairings based on current match wins
- No rematches within a Quadrum
Gameplay Format
- Games may be played in person or via Tabletop Simulator (TTS)
- In-person play is encouraged to support community interaction
- Players must coordinate their own matches with assigned opponents
- If a match cannot be played by both and the TO has been contacted, the result is recorded as a 10–10 draw
- If a player does not show then the the score will be a 80-0 final score for that game, it would be best to give the opponent a second chance as things in life do happen but this is at the discretion of the player. Remember good sportsmanship is always the best way to build the community.
Match Making
Fixtures are generated by ELO brackets to ensure balanced and fair matchups:
- 5 unique matches per Quadrum
- No rematches within the same cycle
To assist in match scheduling, the system will include a match availability tool where players can enter their available time slots for each round.
- This tool will suggest optimal matchups and times based on mutual availability
- Tournament Organizers can use this data to help resolve conflicts or ensure all games are scheduled promptly
- This scheduling system is optional but strongly encouraged to streamline the process and reduce delays
